WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY FEELINGS

I once read a quote that said, ‘My feelings are not God—God is God. My feelings don’t define truth; God's Word defines truth.’ There will be many times in your walk with Jesus when you will be swayed by your emotions. They may seem incredibly real, even though, deep down, you know that what you are feeling does not align with the truth. In that very moment, you will be faced with a choice: Will I walk according to the dictates of my feelings, or will I walk by faith in God's truth?

Repeatedly in Scripture, God emphasizes the importance of truth. Jesus said,

"I am the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6).

The Holy Spirit is called “the Spirit of truth” (John 16:13). Jesus spoke the truth that He heard from the Father:

“My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me” (John 7:16).

Furthermore, Scripture urges believers to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:11). One essential piece of this armor is “the belt of truth” (Ephesians 6:14), signifying the importance of standing firm in God's truth. Even more beautifully, the book of Philippians exhorts us to “think about whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable” (Philippians 4:8).

The key question is this: Will you walk by faith, trusting in God's truth, or will you be led by emotions that can be deceitful and contradict the truth?

“The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?” (Jeremiah 17:9).

Ask God to help you so that your emotions may align with His truth.

“Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name” (Psalm 86:11).
